Lawcomm Case Study Hoowla Success Story

Background

Lawcomm Solicitors was established in 1999 by Managing Director and Head of Litigation Bill Dhariwal. Growing from a single desk to a firm of over 40 members of staff and run a Graduate Programme to support and train the next generation.

The firm has developed a reputation for providing professional and friendly legal services to their clients for property, private client and commercial law.

Challenge

To continue their growth and improve management of their business, Lawcomm Solicitors wanted to move away from their incumbent legal case management software to a more modern, flexible an customisable solution.

As a full-practice law firm, Lawcomm Solicitors needed a system that could be used by the whole team to support all the practice areas within their existing processes and letter templates.

Solution

As a full practice legal firm with an existing team, client base and case management system in place the move to Hoowla needed to be as seamless and efficient as possible.  Hoowla worked with Lawcomm to migrate data from their previous case management system, Osprey, into Hoowla.

Lawcomm’s IT and communications manager, Tom Ayling, led the client-side of the project, working closely with Hoowla to setup the system to be the perfect fit for Lawcomm, organise user training and feed back required changes from the client-side, allowing Lawcomm’s team to focus on their day-to-day work.

Having a dedicated project manager on the client side enabled a more advanced configuration of the system and Hoowla were able to ensure that the process of changing systems had minimal impact on Lawcomm’s business.

Lawcomm have a strong focus on property and conveyancing and installing Hoowla’s Conveyancing Quote Calculator on their website allows prospective clients to obtain an accurate quote from the website at a time convenient to them.

Hoowla has a reputation for fast software updates and the changing Stamp Duty over the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond meant regular changes to ensure clients received the correct information on their quotes, which Hoowla was able to implement even before the changes were made on the Land Registry website.

Hoowla’s conveyancing software means Lawcomm Solicitors now have the benefit of integrations with HMRC and Land Registry allowing them to order documents and submit registration through the case.

Results

Moving to Hoowla just before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lawcomm Solicitors switched at the right time. It has become essential for any modern law firm to have a fully online legal case management system where cases, documents and client work can be completed without the need to go into the office to access installed systems or physical files.
